67. And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying, Luke 1:67. Luke explains the birth of John the Baptist. Zacharias, by inspiration from the Holy Ghost, blesses God for keeping His promises, by the prophets, that a Savior Jesus is coming, and John shall prepare the people with repentance of sin. John shall be the Prophet of the Most High, God having raised up a Savior, Christ the Lord, from the house of King David. Because of the tender mercies of God, Jesus shall come, bringing the knowledge of salvation, by the remission of sin. To give light to all who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide sinners in the way of peace. Zacharias explains that Jesus is coming to rescue His people from sins and spiritual enemies, not just political and religious leaders. John's mission is to prepare people to understand salvation and turn from sin. The lesson here is, God keeps His word; everything He has proclaimed, He will deliver, and there is nothing that can stop Him from performing His word. If God said it, believe it. Amen.
