Look at what Paul is saying here, look at who he first consulted with before even going to the apostles. Paul went to a secluded place to be alone, to a place where he could pray, and fellowship with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We see in the Gospels where Jesus would go off by Himself to pray and spend time with God the Father. We see also in the old testament where Jacob was alone when he wrestled with the messenger of God and was blessed with a new name Israel. Many of us today are uncomfortable being alone, we are uncomfortable with silence, and we avoid it at all cost. However it is those times we are alone that we have the opportunity to spend time in prayer, meditation, and fellowship with our Creator. We are told to follow Jesus yet we avoid the opportunity to spend time with Him, instead of avoiding the quiet lonely times use them for time to get to know your Savior, use them as a blessing, and use them to build a relationship with Jesus.
