26. And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.Mark 15:26. This inscription above Christ on the cross is the charge against Him. This is the reason the Romans executed Him. The Romans treated any claim of kingship as a political threat. The fact is Jesus is the Messiah and King; His kingdom is spiritual, not political, and is based on love and justice. Jesus, the sinless, fully God and fully man, was crucified between two criminals, showing the extreme dishonor intended by His murderers. The crowds joined with the religious leaders, who mocked and scoffed at the Son of the Living God, Christ the Lord, Savior of the world. They expected a visible response from Jesus, who exhibited strength and obedience in His suffering to fulfill His Father's will. The lesson learned is that Jesus is a true and eternal King, no matter what is said against Him. Mankind demands visible miracles because of their disbelief, but faith trusts God at His word. Jesus must be King over your spirit to gain victory. Your flesh has already been declared guilty because of sin. Only Christ can resurrect a dead man and give him eternal life. Amen.
