LAS VEGAS — In a move that has left progressive legal scholars clutching their pearls and ordinary citizens cheering like it’s the Super Bowl, Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Eric Goodman — son of former Democrat mayor Oscar Goodman and proud heir to the family’s “soft-on-crime” dynasty — ordered career criminal Joshua Sanchez-Lopez released from jail with a $25,000 bail and a fancy GPS ankle monitor.
The only problem? The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, led by no-nonsense Sheriff Kevin McMahill, took one look at Sanchez-Lopez’s rap sheet (35 arrests, involuntary manslaughter conviction, multiple probation violations, and a habit of stealing cars like they’re rental scooters) and replied with the legal equivalent of “lol, no.”
“Public safety isn’t a suggestion, Your Honor,” sources close to the sheriff’s office confirmed McMahill essentially told Goodman. “We’re not your personal Uber for repeat offenders.”
Goodman, reportedly shocked that actual law enforcement refused to play along with his bench-warmer activism, threatened to hold the entire department in contempt. McMahill’s team fired back with a Nevada Supreme Court petition, because apparently “fuck off” needed to be filed in triplicate.
At press time, Sanchez-Lopez was quietly shuffled into the court’s own lower-tier monitoring program, while Sheriff McMahill’s approval ratings among actual humans hit record highs. Not all heroes wear capes — some just wear badges and have the balls to tell a nepo-Dem judge exactly where he can stick his court order.
