"Yes, sir, senator!"
Barney Kessel ran his Market Club for decades on the corner of Randolph and Halsted. So many politicians came for his famous steaks and drinks that he forgot their names. Instead, he and staff would simply answer all customers with "yes, sir, senator!"
Barney was known for "extralegal" business practices and served a couple months of jail for bootlegging during Prohibition.
