JD Vance should replace John Thune as Senate Majority Leader! It’s his Constitutional right, as Vice President. We could ram through the entire Conservative agenda before midterms.
Did you know that the position of Senate Majority Leader, now occupied by John Thune, is not in the constitution and is basically a made up position? The vice president serves as president of the Senate under Article I, Section 3, with power to cast tie-breaking votes and preside over the Senate.
When John Adams was VP - he also presided over the Senate from 1797–1801 and there was NO Senate Majority Leader. The title didn't exist until 1913. Senate Republicans elected John Thune as majority leader in November 2024 to replace Mitch McConnell - but they can easily scrap the position altogether (with 51 votes) and allow Vance to fill the role. Maybe something would actually get done that way.
Both Charlie Kirk and Mike Lee have suggested that before. Many of the "norms" employed by the Senate were made up to serve the Senate and not the people! Just like the filibuster and blue slips. Let's do away with them!
Make this happen!
