They don’t like this version of Jesus. The Jesus who flips tables, confronts corruption, and refuses to let God’s house become a marketplace of greed. Righteous anger isn’t the opposite of love - it’s what love looks like when people are being exploited. In the temple, Jesus wasn’t losing control - He was restoring it. He was defending holiness, protecting the powerless, and showing that worship is not for sale.We prefer the gentle Teacher, the soft-spoken Healer - but Scripture won’t let us edit Him into someone more manageable. The same Jesus who welcomed children also confronted sin with fire in His eyes.If we want to follow Him, we must embrace the whole Christ - the Lamb and the Lion. Not just the comfort of His mercy, but the courage of His conviction.
