7. Then said I, Lo, I come in the volume of the book it is written of me,
8. I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
Psalm 40:7-8.
Psalm 40, written 1015 years before Christ's birth, gives so much in these two verses.
Christ is saying, I come willingly, because the blood of goats and bulls cannot remove sin, but My blood can.
Christ is saying, the scriptures speak of Me.
Moses and the prophets declared that Christ was coming; the Gospels declare Christ is here!
Everyone on earth failed God because we turned to our own way.
Christ succeeded because His delight was to do the will of His Father, even at the cost of suffering and death.
Christ's suffering and death fulfilled the requirements to be the Mediator between a holy God and sinful men.
The lesson: when the law of God is written in our hearts, our duty will be our delight.
The great salvation spoken of by the Lord is the Gospel that is preached to all nations. Amen.
