This is prophetic. I’ve been waiting and sitting on potentially writing this post about the profound connection between Iran and Israel. One that has global effects beyond what the natural eye can see. Today is the day. This “war” is more than just another Middle Eastern conflict. It is a deeply prophetic and spiritual moment for the nations of the earth. How? Let me explain. It started nearly three thousand years ago.The Assyrians conquered the northern kingdom of Israel in 722 BC, which represented 10 of the 12 tribes of Israel, following the death of King Solomon and the split of the nation.Shortly after this, the Babylonian Empire partnered with the Medes (Iranian descendants) and conquered the Assyrians in 609 BC.Subsequently, the southern kingdom of Israel was conquered by the Babylonian Empire in 586 BC.A king by the name of Nebuchadnezzar was in power during this time (Daniel 1). It was a season of heavy oppression for the Jewish people, as the Temple had been destroyed—a time of dire need for the Hebrew children.Within fifty years, the ancient Persians (today’s Iranians) stepped onto the scene and overthrew the Babylonian Empire in 539 BC.What happened next was a supernatural sign from heaven.A pagan empire, serving pagan gods, was divinely used to serve the purposes of Yahweh. It culminated with three Persian kings—Cyrus the Great, Darius I, and Artaxerxes. Collectively, they decreed and allowed the Jewish people to return from exile to their homeland and even funded the rebuilding of their Temple.A miracle. So where do we find ourselves today as Israel and the United States have launched a joint attack on the Iranian Islamic regime?1. Scholars believe Iran is home to one of the fastest-growing underground churches in the world. Estimates suggest that between 800,000 and 1 million people have become followers of Jesus. When Iran becomes free from its current regime, I believe it would open the door for the proclamation of the gospel across the Middle East, a region that is currently less than 5% Christian. The gospel has not had this level of opportunity in this region for millennia. This could be a sign of an end-times harvest. It’s time.2. Scholars believe the descendants of the Assyrian and Babylonian empires—who previously conquered the Jews—are represented in modern-day nations such as Iraq, Turkey, Syria, and surrounding regions. These nations have historically been among the most hostile toward Israel and have had ties to terrorist networks, many of which have received indirect support through channels connected to Iran. The fall of such a regime would represent a significant disruption to those networks.3. The Islamic stronghold across the Middle East that has chanted for decades “Death to America” and “Death to the Jews” is clearly operating from an anti-Christ spirit.I personally believe this moment could open millions of Arabs, Muslims, and others to hear the gospel for the FIRST TIME EVER. 4. Many Iranians themselves have been outspoken in their support for Israel, which is remarkable in its own right.Iran may once again serve as a catalyst for the Jewish people—perhaps even playing a role in what Scripture describes as “all Israel will be saved” (Romans 11).Church, I pray that the spirit of wisdom and revelation would come upon us, opening the eyes of our understanding. (Ephesians 1:17–18)We pray that every ruler—seen and unseen—that has exalted itself against the Lord would be brought low (Ephesians 1:20–21).Iran, let freedom ring in your land once again! The storyline of God is unfolding before our very eyes.Maranatha. Come, Lord Jesus!@revivalistross
