A 45-meter stretch of ancient Roman road was uncovered during construction for a new McDonald’s in Marino, Italy. Alongside the roadway, archaeologists discovered three skeletons at its edges. Discovery took place in 2014.
After the excavation was completed, the restaurant incorporated a glass floor so visitors could view the remains beneath their feet. McDonald’s funded the restoration project, which was carried out under the supervision of Rome’s Superintendency for Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape
