4. But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house."
Mark 6:4.
Jesus had entered His hometown with His disciples.
And on the Sabbath day, He began to teach the kingdom of God.
And the people were offended because they had watched Jesus grow up.
They saw Him work as a carpenter, like His father Joseph.
They knew He was never in school to learn the scriptures and were offended because He worked miracles.
They rejected Christ as Messiah because He worked at a trade.
They were looking for a Messiah, born and brought up as royalty, in grandeur and splendor.
And Jesus was openly refused by His own relatives and family, seeing Jesus, wisdom, and spiritual gifts, yet He was from a family of great poverty.
And because of their unbelief, Jesus did no mighty works there.
Not that He did not have power, but being refused, it was not fit or proper to manifest the mighty work of God in this city.
Yet in many other cities, Jesus worked powerful miracles, being received by faith and being recognized that Jesus had power and was able to do what He said. Amen.
