1. And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,Mark 1:23. This devil cried out at the presence of Jesus, dreading Christ's majesty and fearing he would be removed from the man and sent to hell. "What have we to do with you? Leave us alone! I know who you are, Jesus, the Holy One of God." The religious leaders did not accept Christ, but this devil knew who Christ was and His power. Christ told him to be quiet and come out of him. Christ refused his knowledge of who He was and denied his plea to stay in the man. Christ came not to serve His enemies, nor give them comfort. Christ came to defeat Satan and death, and save mankind from sin and its penalty. This devil, having no power, came out of the man. And so shall it be with anyone who comes to Christ: they shall meet an undefeated Savior, full of mercy to pardon, who lovingly gave His life so they could inherit eternal life. Amen.
