Carl Sprayberry, a former Democratic candidate for Georgia's 139th House District, publicly called for the assassination of President Donald Trump in social media posts in February 2025.  He wrote, "Donald Trump has committed an act of High Treason. He was charged with human trafficking after engaging in sexually explicit communications with individuals he believed to be minors and attempting to arrange in-person meetings for sex. The operation, led by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, resulted in 19 arrests between April 25 and April 28, 2025. Sprayberry had previously run for office in 2020, 2022, and 2024, advocating for expanded Medicare, renewable energy, and crime reduction, but lost all elections. At the time of his arrest, he was employed as a chef at an upscale Columbus restaurant. Authorities confirmed that no children were harmed, as the interactions were with undercover agents. Sprayberry was booked into Muscogee County Jail, denied bond, and his case was bound over to superior court. Additional charges may follow.
