50. Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.Matthew 27:50. These are the final moments of Jesus' life, broken down into key sections. Jesus had been beaten and tortured before being crucified. The crowds and religious leaders mocked Jesus, asking Him to do something spectacular to save Himself from death, having no understanding of His mission of salvation. They looked for proof of being the Son of God. Not being converted, they could not see His purpose for sacrificing His life for mankind. In today's verse, Jesus cries out for the last time, willingly giving His life to save many. This completes Christ's mission on Earth. His death is an act of obedience and surrender, showing perfect trust in His Father. We see people mocking Christ in anguish, people with no spiritual understanding of what is happening, Christ's sacrifice, completing God's plan of salvation. You will not be able to love Christ until you know how much Christ suffered because of His love for you. Amen.
