DMV NIGHTMARE: FLORIDA WOMAN BUSTED TRYING TO REGISTER STOLEN ALLIGATOR AS “EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMAL”
MIAMI — Florida Woman reportedly decided the DMV was stressful… and brought backup.
Police say a Florida woman was arrested after attempting to register a stolen alligator as an emotional support animal at the DMV, turning an already soul-crushing government errand into a full reptile situation.
According to authorities, the woman showed up claiming the alligator helped ease her anxiety, allegedly insisting it was “calmer than most people waiting in line.” DMV employees, already pushed to the brink by expired licenses and incorrect paperwork, quickly realized this was not covered in the handbook.
Investigators say the alligator had been stolen, was very much not certified for emotional labor, and did not have the required documentation — including, but not limited to, a leash, a vest, or literally any reason to be inside a DMV.
The woman was taken into custody, the alligator was handed over to wildlife officials, and several DMV workers reportedly stared into the middle distance wondering how their career led here.
Officials reminded the public that emotional support animals do not include apex predators, and DMV visits are stressful for everyone — but that doesn’t make it a safari.
Florida remains undefeated.
