Where's the outrage or media coverage of this and many others.
This day last year, Emily Pike was gone; murdered and dismembered (Oh my God!) after being missing for weeks.
For my Indigenous friends, please keep scrolling. This post is for non-Indigenous people because I know this story hasn't reached you as it should.
Emily Pike was a 14-year-old girl of the San Carlos Apache tribe in Arizona who deserved to grow up, pursue her dreams, and be safe in her community. She was loved. She was full of life. And now she's gone; murdered and dismembered (Oh my God!) after being missing for weeks.
Major news networks barely covered her case, and that silence is unacceptable. Too often, when young girls go missing, especially vulnerable ones, their stories don't get the attention they deserve. This pattern is heartbreakingly familiar to Indigenous families fighting for justice in the MMIP crisis. ( Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons  )
Emily is more than just a headline. She was a daughter, a friend, a life worth cherishing. She was artistically gifted and loved to draw. She was quirky, funny, and always full of laughter.
The least we can do is share her story and stand with her family in demanding justice. Don't let her name fade away.
