11. For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.Matthew 18:11. These are the words of Jesus. What does it mean to be saved? The word "save" in the Greek text means to heal, to make whole. To rescue from the evils which obstruct the reception of Jesus. After receiving Jesus as Savior, the penalties of judgment have been paid in full by the blood of Christ. This is the will of God Almighty, that salvation is offered to mankind. The parable of the shepherd leaving 99 sheep to find the 1 who is lost, is Christ. It shows Christ's love for the individual: a patient love, a seeking love, a rejoicing love, a protecting love. Christ came in obedience to the Almighty Father's will. All who seek Him will find Him and shall never be disappointed. Amen.
