15. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
Matthew 16:15.
This powerful question comes after the disciples say, "The people say You are John the Baptist, others say Elijah, or Jeremiah or one of the other prophets."
Jesus goes right to the heart of it: it's not what others believe, it's who Jesus is to us personally.
Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.
If we believe this, has it changed the way we live, what we say, and what we do?
Do we search His word for the precious treasures of who He is?
Are we obedient to what we read?
Are we looking to be transformed into His image?
If all we can see is flesh and blood, and the powerful God who created everything remains invisible, we will not be moved in our inner man.
"Who am I to you?" Jesus is asking, "Will you trust Me with each breath, each day, each year you have, to share in the reward prepared for you before the world was created?"
If Jesus Christ is our Savior, then His life, death, and resurrection, His teachings, will be more important than anything this world can give.
Christ Jesus is the Door to heaven. Amen.
