Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
Matthew 15:21.
Jesus walked 50 miles close to Syria, and a Gentile woman came to Him grieving; her daughter was vexed by a devil. Asking for help.
She asked for mercy; Christ answered not a word.
She now came worshipping Christ as God, asking for help in the sense that she was aware no one could help her but Christ the Lord.
Christ's answer was that He was not sent to take the children's bread and give it to dogs.
The children are Israel; the Gentiles are those cast out.
She had recognized Christ as God, and she did not hide her position as a Gentile, but with respect to Christ's power, she acknowledged that the crumb of a blessing, falling on the floor for a dog to eat, would not affect all the blessings of Israel.
Jesus was amazed at her faith. Almost all the religious leaders of Israel had rejected Christ, and this woman put all her love, trust, and faith in Jesus for her daughter's healing.
Jesus said, "O woman, great is thy faith. As you believe, so let it be."
We need this kind of faith. When she was refused, she continued asking, worshipping, and believing. Amen.
