🆘Implementing the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) for Iran is an urgent necessity. Over the past 47 years, the Islamic Republic regime has killed more than one million people, and its killing machine has still not been stopped. This has been the regime’s enduring pattern, and if it is not halted, it will be repeated again. The Islamic Republic regime has directly killed more than 150,000 people inside Iran over 47 years. This figure is separate from the systematic killings caused by deadly state policies, and separate from the regime’s regional and global crimes. ❗️ 2025–2026: Reports indicate 12,000 to 20,000+ killed ❗️ 2022: More than 600 killed during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising ❗️ 2019: More than 1,500 killed in the “Bloody November” protests ❗️ 2009: Violent suppression of the Green Movement; dozens killed and thousands arrested ❗️ 2017: Nationwide January protests violently suppressed; dozens killed ❗️ 1999: Attack on university dormitories; students killed and tortured ❗️ 1990s: Chain murders; systematic assassination of intellectuals and dissidents ❗️ 1988: Massacre of more than 30,000 political prisoners in a few weeks ❗️ 1979: More than 500 documented executions in the first year, without fair trials ❗️ Executions: More than 49,000 official executions over 47 years ❗️ Internal assassinations: More than 400 opposition figures killed inside the country ❗️ Concealment of crimes: Secret burials, refusal to return bodies, intimidation of families, enforced disappearances, and internet shutdowns during moments of mass killing This is not a temporary crackdown.
