27. But straightway Jesus spake to them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.Matthew 14:27. Jesus proves His power over nature, feeding over 5,000 people with a few loaves and two fish, walking on water, and commanding the winds and seas to be still. Peter calls out to Jesus, "If this is You, ask me to come to You."Jesus says, "Come." Peter went to Jesus on the water, but looking around, seeing the waves and the wind, he began to sink, and immediately cried, "Lord, save me!" Jesus reached out and lifted Peter up, saying, "Why did you doubt?" We are no better than Peter when our doubts become greater than our faith. Jesus said if our faith was the size of a mustard seed, and we believed, we could say to the mountain, "Be removed to the sea," and it would have to go. Doubts and fear go together. Why do we doubt God? Has He ever lied to us, broken a promise, or failed to do what He said He would? We have trouble with timing; we want what we want now. We have devine support in Christ, we are secure in Christ's promises, Christ's victory is ours by faith. If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31. Amen.
