47. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered every kind.Matthew 13:47. Jesus gives several pictures of the kingdom of heaven. The treasure in the field: when found, the man sold everything and bought it. The pearl of great price: being found, the man sold everything and bought it. Today's verse is the net; the sea is the world. And at the end, this net is cast into the world, and what is gathered is sorted out. The good caught in the net will go to the reward prepared for them. The bad will be cast out into destruction. Jesus is the treasure in the field, the pearl of great price. Each individual chooses what is really valuable; nothing but Christ can give access to heaven. When caught in the net, will you be the one rewarded or the one cast out? Only you know what value Christ is to you. Charles Spurgeon said, "Everyone who really knows God's Word will know the old and learn the new of the kingdom. He is not weary of the old; he is not afraid of the new." The Word of God is God speaking to those who will listen. Amen.
