Demonstrations under slogans like “Hands off Greenland” and “Greenland is not for sale” drew huge crowds primarily in Denmark, but Greeland also. In Copenhagen where protest organizers and Greenlandic groups mobilized thousands of people to show opposition to any attempt to annex the island or pressure Denmark on sovereignty. Similar rallies were planned in other Danish cities and in Nuuk, Greenland’s capital.
