28. But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.Matthew 12:28. Jesus is teaching the basics of discipleship. God's kingdom is present, and all who oppose it are really opposing God. Jesus explains that if a person is not filled with the goodness of God, then evil will rule; there is no neutral ground. Everyone who follows Christ is united with Him spiritually. The condition of the heart forms the words coming from the mouth. A good person shall speak good things, and an evil person brings forth evil things. By our words, we will be justified or condemned. Jesus said, "By their fruit, you will know them." A good tree will not produce poisonous fruit, and an evil tree cannot produce healthy food. Proverb 18:21, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." We are held responsible for what we speak. What a small member the tongue is, but many a great contention has been caused by just a few words. Speak loving, good, wholesome, healing words; the world is full of the rest. Amen.
