8. For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.Matthew 12:8. A controversy arose among the Pharisees about Jesus' disciples eating grain growing in a field. Jesus went into their synagogue and saw a man with a withered hand. Jesus asked, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath day?" Jesus told the man to stretch forth his hand, and it was restored. Now the Pharisees plotted how to destroy Jesus. Here the Pharisees complained about harvesting and healing on the Sabbath. Who do you think violated the Sabbath: hungry men eating as they traveled, Jesus healing a man in need, or the Pharisees who on the Sabbath day plotted the death of Jesus? Jesus, creator of all seen and unseen, the maker of heaven and earth, is Lord of all, even on the Sabbath day. Without Jesus, we have nothing that will last; with Jesus, we will be given a reward that will never end. Amen and Amen.
