4. Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:Matthew 11:4. John the Baptist hears the things Jesus is doing in the city. John sends two of his followers to ask Christ, "Are You the One, or do we look for someone else?" He said this because everyone thought that the Messiah would overthrow the Roman government and set the Jews free. Sometimes we overlook the blessings of Christ, who from everlasting was with the Almighty Father, yet became a man, and died in our place. That is a marvelous sacrifice. But think now, the King of Heaven has promised to be with us, never to abandon us. Even when we fall into our secret sins, or we return to deeds that were put behind us. This is the Holy Son of God, coming to us with grace, forgiveness, and pardon. John's followers return to him, saying the gospel is preached, the lame walk, the blind see, the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up. Sinners, the spiritual dead, blind, deaf, the lame who cannot walk in holiness, have the Gospel preached to them and are healed. Blessed are all who hear and believe. Amen.
