Dem Rep Sarah McBride posted a video on social media explaining why she filed Articles of Impeachment DHS Secretary Kristi Noem:"ICE has become this president’s personal paramilitary force. They are breaking the law, endangering communities, and violating basic freedoms. And that’s why I was one of the first members of Congress to demand the impeachment of Kristi Noem. And why today I have joined with my colleagues as a co-sponsor of Articles of Impeachment against Secretary Noem.Last year, with the Big Ugly Bill, congressional Republicans and Donald Trump raided your healthcare to, in part, fund these occupations of American cities.ICE now has a budget larger than all but three militaries in the world—funding that I voted against. But the Constitution gives Congress a solemn responsibility: oversight.Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem has deliberately blocked oversight time and time again, illegally denying members of Congress access to detention facilities—including just the other day in Minneapolis. That’s obstruction. And it goes far beyond that. Under her direction, ICE has carried out widespread warrantless arrests, used excessive force, and violated the constitutional rights of U.S. citizens. Federal courts have confirmed these abuses. This is a breach of public trust. One of the most tragic consequences of Noem’s leadership has been the murder of Renee Good, an unarmed American trying to drive away. Video and eyewitnesses show she was given conflicting commands. Federal guidelines forbid the conduct that led to her murder. And instead of telling the truth, Secretary Noem has defamed Renee Good, an innocent woman, and lied to the public. While all of this was happening, Secretary Noem has been abusing her office for personal gain, bypassing federal contracting rules during a declared emergency to steer taxpayer dollars to her friends and her political allies. She is violating the Immigration and Nationality Act, anti-corruption laws, and the Constitution itself. This isn’t about politics. It’s about right and wrong. The rule of law. Accountability. Protecting the freedoms and safety of our community. And that no one, including those in the executive branch, are above the law."Source: X
