After dying for a little bit on the operating table, the 13 hours I was on it, they managed to reattach my right hand after it was cut off. The pinky and side of the hand were cut off, the ring finger was cut off down to the palm, and they needed stomach muscle tissue to repair the rest of the wrist. At this point I had a decision to make. Leave my mangled hand still attached and have it tripping me up, with no nerve function and something like 20% mobility of my fingers, max... or just lop it off and go with a prosthetic. I could have just kept my hand, got on disability for life and retired with my settlement. But I hate fixed income, and I've seen everything from MMA fighters to video game streamers with one hand making it. Why couldn't I? And a robot hand?! Fak yeah!So... here I be. But, it was crazy to look down at your dominant hand and see... well... that. Hopefully a one in a lifetime experience. Along with the whole dying thing.
