The Vatican has released a new doctrinal document reaffirming its long-standing position that Christian marriage is a lifelong, exclusive union between one man and one woman.Titled Una Caro (One Flesh: In Praise of Monogamy) and approved by Pope Leo XIV, the text describes marriage as an “indissoluble unity” rooted in total mutual belonging and lifelong commitment. According to the Vatican, true marital union can only exist when two individuals fully give themselves to one another—without division.The document firmly rejects polygamy, polyamory, and all multi-partner relationships, arguing that such arrangements undermine the dignity, equality, and integrity of marriage.
