On April 14, 1910, Cincinnati native son, the 27th President (and 10th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court), William Howard Taft, who was a graduate of Woodward High School and the University of Cincinnati Law School (and who was a power-hitting 2B as a young man), became the first president to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at a Major League Baseball game. Taft made that historic toss to Hall of Famer, Walter Johnson, the Washington Senators' opening day starting pitcher at National Park in the nation's capital.
