During her speech, New York Governor Kathy Hochul disparaged Trump for “attacking” New York by shutting down the Empire Wind project:"We just learned that the job-killing Trump administration is taking another hit on New York. They are shutting down Empire Wind, along with other projects, offshore wind projects, particularly affecting the Northeast and our ability to generate clean, renewable power.This project has been underway for over a decade—a $5 billion project that we've worked closely on. It’s over thousands of jobs, on Long Island in particular. Labor unions, who very likely supported the President, are now having their holiday ruined because they're now going to be losing their jobs.I just want the Trump administration to know the widespread effect this is going to have on our economy, on people's jobs, the ability to support their families. And it's just another attack on a place like New York that is working so hard to have an all-the-above approach so I can keep the lights on.And we're counting on half a million homes being powered by clean, renewable energy from offshore wind next year, ready to launch something that has been anticipated for many, many years. We're finally about to get over the finish line, and they arbitrarily threw out that this is somehow affecting 'national security.'
