Today we remember Sergeant Alan Francis Angell of Uxbridge, Massachusetts, who gave his life in service to his country during the Vietnam War.Born on April 10, 1949, Alan served honorably in the United States Army as a Light Weapons Infantryman with E Company, 51st Infantry (LRRP), Americal Division. On July 20, 1968, while serving in Quang Tin Province, South Vietnam, he was killed in action due to hostile forces, suffering multiple fragmentation wounds.For his sacrifice, Sergeant Angell was awarded the Purple Heart. He was only 19 years old.Today, his name is permanently etched on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, Panel 51W, Line 16, ensuring his courage and sacrifice are never forgotten.We honor his service.
