COAST-TO-COAST TERROR PLOT STOPPED: SO CAL BOMB SCHEME ALLEGEDLY HEADED FOR NEW ORLEANSA chilling New Year’s Eve terror plot that nearly turned Southern California into a midnight bloodbath was allegedly set to spread to New Orleans, before the FBI stepped in.Federal agents arrested Micah James Legnon, 29, a former Marine and ex-police officer, in New Iberia, Louisiana, linking him to an extremist group whose members were already busted for plotting coordinated bombings in Southern California.Prosecutors say Legnon is associated with the Turtle Island Liberation Front, a radical group described by authorities as anti-government and anti-capitalist. In the California case, members allegedly planned to detonate backpack pipe bombs at five or more businesses simultaneously at midnight on New Year’s Eve.Investigators say Legnon fueled fears the plot was going national after he allegedly shared an image in a group chat signaling he was preparing to travel to New Orleans to attack ICE officers. When agents searched his home, they allegedly found sniper training manuals, assault rifles, and large amounts of ammunition. FBI surveillance teams later watched Legnon load an assault rifle and body armor into his vehicle.Although officials say Legnon was not directly involved in the Southern California bomb plot, they describe him as a serious threat because of his ties to the same extremist network. Authorities also claim he threatened federal agents during the search.Legnon now faces federal charges for making interstate threats as investigators continue to unravel what officials say could have been a multi-city New Year’s Eve terror attack that was stopped just in time.
