NGO's have more than $14 Trillion in total assets as of this year, while still receiving government (tax payer) grants, new data reveals
America's tax-exempt NGO sector is exploding with trillions in wealth that's being protected from taxation, while benefiting from taxpayer-backed subsidies and direct federal funding.
Official Federal Reserve Financial Accounts data, which tracks the balance sheets of nonprofit organizations, shows $14.1 trillion in combined assets as of Q2 2025.
This includes real estate holdings (like hospitals, universities, and religious facilities), investment portfolios, endowments, and other financial assets.
Financial assets alone for NGOs were about $7.6 trillion in recent quarters.
Analysts argue that the sector's tax-exempt status creates a taxpayer subsidy allowing massive wealth accumulation
Most NGOs receive major government grants and contracts, that critic say they then use to push political narratives, like organizations connected to George Soros's Open Society Foundations (OSF)
