12. One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter. Revelation 9:12. Revelation 9 comes in the middle of the 5th and 6th trumpets, each unleashing catastrophic events that serve as warnings and judgments against mankind. The church has been rescued from the earth. The sealed of God are preaching Christ to a world that is doomed. The 5th trumpet sounds and the bottomless pit is opened. Out of the pit come locusts having power like scorpions; they come to torment those who do not have the seal of God. The torment is so severe that people seek death, but it cannot be found. This emphasizes the spiritual and physical suffering that comes from the rejection of Christ and the divine judgment of the Almighty. The 6th trumpet sounds and four angels are released from the Euphrates River, killing a third of mankind. The judgments of God begin to escalate. Despite the catastrophic events, the remaining people do not repent of their sins. This highlights the hardness of the human heart in the face of divine judgment. Revelation 9 reveals God's judgment of sin and rebellion, as well as the contrast between the torment of Satan's followers and the importance of turning to Christ before it is too late. Amen.
