1. And when he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.Revelation 8:1 Jesus opens the seventh seal, which results in silence in heaven because of the awe and anticipation of coming judgments and their severity. The seventh seal reveals seven angels with trumpets; each trumpet signifies a catastrophic event that occurs on Earth, serving as a divine alarm. An angel standing at the altar with a gold censer offers incense with the prayers of the saints; at this time, the church is in heaven. The first trumpet brings hail and fire mixed with blood, destroying a third of all vegetation. The second trumpet brings a great mountain burning with fire thrown into the sea. It causes the death of a third of all living things in the sea and destroys a third of all ships. The third trumpet brings a star named Wormwood. It is cast into a third of all rivers and springs, killing many with bitter water. The fourth trumpet causes a reduction of light during the day because a third of the sun, moon, and stars have been struck. The chapter concludes with an angel warning that three more trumpets are to come. A third of the earth has been destroyed, calling for repentance and awareness of the sovereignty of God Almighty. Amen.
