(Pic 1, 12/01) We were three years out from World War II. The three younger men likely would have served in some branch or other of the military; the lady, the wife or sister of one; the older gentleman an uncle/father/grandfather, or a friend.

(Pic 2, 12/02) We were just gaining a toehold on getting out of the Great Depression of the 1930s. Granted, some areas were worse off than others, but with Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration (WPA) and other programs, people were going back to work. However, there were storm clouds brewing in Europe and Asia, and conflicts yet to be were on the horizon.

(Pic 2, 12/04) This Lincoln-Zephyr would have been in dealers probably late 1940-early 1941. One wonders where its owner, salesman, mechanic, and service-station attendant were or were soon to be, a year later.
