2. And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.Revelation 4:2 In Revelation 2-3, Jesus spoke to the churches. After these things, John is called up into heaven. The voice was like a trumpet that called an army to assemble. John gives a description of heaven with a throne as the centerpiece, and the One sitting on the throne is God—His presence, His sovereignty, the rightful ruler over all creation, and the judge of all nations and people. There is an emerald rainbow around the throne, and twenty-four elders sit clothed in white robes, with crowns of gold on their heads. And they do not rest day and night, saying, "Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!" And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever, the twenty-four elders fall down before Him and worship Him, casting their crowns before the throne, saying, "You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things and by Your will they exist." Amen.
