7. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. Revelation 2:7 This is Jesus speaking to the seven churches. Jesus introduces Himself and addresses the congregation. Jesus says we must repent of our sins, and we will receive His reward. Christ says some have left their first works, leading to leaving their first love. The first works are spending time in His word, praying, talking to others about what Jesus has done for you. The first love is Jesus, for by none other can you enter Heaven. Jesus says if you do not correct yourself and turn towards Him, your candle will be removed from His Light and presence. Christ says hear the word and be mindful of what the Spirit has to say to the seven churches; He is saying it to each individual. The promise of the Paradise of God is translated as a garden of delight, a place where God lives. Jesus talks about some who are rich but are in spiritual poverty. Others have little money but are full of spiritual treasures. Listen to the Spirit, Christ is concerned about our walk with Him, He wants you to receive His rewards. Amen
