An advertisement from 1930 when women got thin due to hunger during the Great Depression in the United States. Apparently the slender, straight silhouette went out of style. Ironized yeast products promised “skinny” women “weight,” by which they meant larger hips and breasts. These were the kinds of ads that were circulating at the time.
