🚨 “Alejandro Was Murdered” — Family of Colombian Fisherman Files Human-Rights Complaint Against U.S. 🚨
The family of Alejandro Carranza Medina, a 42-year-old fisherman from Santa Marta, Colombia, says he was just doing his job — fishing for tuna and marlin — when his boat was struck by a U.S. military strike on September 15. They insist he had no ties to drug trafficking.
Instead of being treated as a civilian, Carranza was killed — and now, his wife and children have filed a formal complaint with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), accusing the U.S. of violating his right to life and committing an extrajudicial killing.
Their petition names Pete Hegseth — the U.S. Secretary of Defense — alleging he ordered the bombing without knowing who was on board.
This is the first formal challenge against the recent wave of U.S. military strikes targeting alleged drug-smuggling vessels — a campaign that has reportedly resulted in over 80 deaths since September.
