A woman says she decided to file for divorce after discovering her two pets left outside in freezing temperatures while she was away for work. When she confronted her husband, he allegedly told her the dogs were loud and not his responsibility. She gathered the animals, wrapped them in blankets, and took them to safety. Although they did not suffer major injuries, she described frost forming on their fur and noticeable trembling from the cold.According to her account, this was not the first time her dogs had been left outside. She said the repeated behavior, along with his reaction, made her realize the marriage could not continue. The story first appeared in Reddit communities focused on relationship conflicts, and it was later picked up by lifestyle outlets that often cover viral AITA conversations.Animal welfare groups remind owners that dogs can experience hypothermia and frostbite when exposed to sub-zero windchill. They strongly recommend keeping pets indoors during severe cold. In many areas, leaving animals exposed to dangerous weather can violate local cruelty laws. She says her friends and family helped her and the dogs relocate, and she describes feeling relief after making the decision.Online responses vary. Some accuse the husband of negligence, while others argue that the couple needed clearer communication about pet care. Most agree, however, that the dogs should never have been left outside in the cold. The woman says she stands by her decision. “If you love me, you protect what I love,” she wrote.References:“AITA for divorcing my husband for leaving my dogs outside when I’m on work trips?” - Reddit, r/AITAH“Woman divorces husband for leaving dogs outside in the cold all the time” - Her .ie“Woman divorces husband for leaving dogs outside in the cold all the time” - HerFamilyDisclaimer: Images are generated using AI for illustration purposes only.

It's a catch 22, the same could be said for someone in Florida having a Husky in the heat. Much of it depends on the breed of dogs, many like sled dogs thrive in freezing weather.
