During an interview on Fox Business, Education Secretary Linda McMahon told David Asman US education is in crisis:“Well, David, if it was well spent, it’s a mystery because we haven’t seen any changes in our scores. Besides, schools were closed, kids were at home. I think that was a great eye-opener for many parents as to what was being taught in our schools. And so I think that was a failure. And we have failed, we have failed our students. And I said to the President this morning in the cabinet meeting that I think where education is in our country is absolutely a crisis in our country. It is a national emergency. Because of all the wonderful things that this President is bringing in — new manufacturing, we’re raising levels of investments all across the country. But if we don’t build a workforce and if we don’t train people to go into these jobs, where are we going to be?” We have to be able to do it. And you probably know this stat, but only 30 percent of high school students, of high school seniors, eighth graders and fourth graders are reading proficiently. 30 percent.”Source: Fox Business/Grabien
