Bad news- Illinois will continue to tax tips,  despite a new federal law that eliminates taxes on tips.Illinois Democrats have opted out of the new federal provision and will continue to collect a state income tax on tips.Illinois Republicans introduced several bills this year to stop taxing tips in Illinois, but JB Pritzker, and Illinois Democrats have no interest in providing any tax relief.
