9. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.2 Peter 3:9. Peter is saying the promises of the Lord are sure. But as pertaining to the last days, the ungodly will refuse Christ's salvation, and some will doubt because the end has not come. Peter is saying the end is going to come. But because of the Lord's mercies, it has been delayed so that even the most hard-hearted sinner could be redeemed. Christ's love for the world He created and His compassion are why the wicked have not seen a quick end. The followers of Christ are prepared for His return, but for the ungodly, it shall come as a surprise, like a robber breaking into a house. There will be no time to get right with God for His promised salvation. The time to get right is today. Amen.
