8. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:1 Peter 5:8. Peter, a witness to Christ's sufferings and death, also knows the temptation of Satan. Peter's advice: cast all your cares on Christ, and He will lift you up. Be clear-headed and watchful; your enemy Satan accuses you before God. He travels throughout the world like a lion looking for prey. "Seeking whom he may devour" means swallowed whole without chewing.Satan will use whatever is necessary for your fall, some things sweet, some bitter. But Christ's victory at the Cross has pulled the teeth from the lion's mouth. You have Christ's victory in you, making you a lion tamer, an overcomer of sin, by resistance and faith in Christ. When the devil comes knocking, start talking to Christ, and you shall be safe and secure from all harm. For Christ is present with every believer. Amen.
