25. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.1 Peter 2:25. Sheep without a shepherd face numerous dangers; they are vulnerable to predators. Having no one to care for them, they can easily become lost, unable to find shelter or food. Sheep are not known for intelligence. Predators and lack of guidance, along with neglected health issues, cause stress and anxiety. We are like sheep, but not as innocent; we are responsible for sin, causing us to wander from God's flock. Christ, leaving heaven, became a man, sinless and obedient to the Father. Christ took our sins upon Himself and paid our debt on the cross. Therefore, He became our Savior, Redeemer, the Shepherd of our souls. Having created us, He knows everything we need and when. And every believer in Christ is known by Him by name, and by His promise, every believer's reward is sure. Because the Good Shepherd laid down His life for His sheep. Amen.
