13. I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD. Psalm 116:13. This is the answer the psalmist gives to the question, "What shall I give the Lord for all the benefits I have been given?" The psalmist says he will take one more thing: the cup of salvation. This cup was paid for not in silver or gold, which has no eternal value, but in Christ's precious blood—the eternal payment for sin. Incorruptible and undefiled, the eternal promise of life with Christ, never-ending, is reserved in heaven for every believer, received by faith for the salvation of our souls. But those who continue to freely drink the cup of sin will be forced to drink the cup of judgment, not just a sip, but to the very bottom of the cup, to the dregs. They scoffed at the cup of salvation; they shall be dragged to Christ's table of justice and forced to drink their eternal punishment from the dregs at the bottomless cup of bitterness, from the hand of the Lord. Psalm 75:8. In Christ is life eternal, or eternal punishment, each person must choose their own way. Amen.
