Most Christian marriages don’t start dying in bed. They start dying in the mind. Not with “cheat.”With:“I deserve better than this.”Hell doesn’t begin with divorce papers. It begins with a thought that feels holy. The snake doesn’t kick your door in screaming:“LEAVE YOUR SPOUSE.”He slips in quiet:“She never really sees you.”“He’s never going to change.”“You’ve tried everything.”“God wouldn’t want you to live like this.”You call it “being honest with yourself.”He calls it bait. You know how this goes. You stop seeing your mate as a soul. They become a case file. You stop praying for them. You start prosecuting them in your head. You stop guarding the covenant. You start building the exit. And you still take the kids to church.Still post verses.Still sing.Dead eyes, Bible open.If he can drag you far enough—cold enough, lonely enough, mad enough—he flips the script:Before sin:“It’s not a big deal. You deserve better.”After sin:“You ruined everything. God’s done with you.”First he hands you the knife. Then he calls you a monster for using it.Same serpent. Two poisons.Christians are experts at baptizing demonic thoughts. We slap verses on:“I deserve better.”“God wants me happy.”“This isn’t what ‘abundant life’ means.”Then we spiritualize our resentment.Meanwhile:“…the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously…”— Malachi 2:14 (KJV)God heard every internal monologue you never said out loud. And no, “stay and get destroyed” is not the answer.Abuse isn’t “suffering for Jesus.”There are real boundaries, real danger, real sin that must be confronted. But most of you aren’t in danger. You’re in disappointment. You married a sinner. So did they. You wanted a movie. You got a war.The devil doesn’t just want you to fall.He wants you convinced there is no way home.So he keeps that thought on loop:“I deserve better than this.”If you’re not careful, it starts sounding like the Holy Ghost. It isn’t.It’s a demon wearing your tone.A better line to loop is simple, bloody, and not cute:“Not my will, but thine.”“Kill what’s twisted in me.Show me where I’m blind.Teach me when to stay, when to confront, when to flee danger. But don’t let me call my bitterness holy.”Hell wants your resentment first, your covenant second.Don’t let a demonic thought sleep in your bed and call itself “finally being real.”
