"It hardly seems fair to compare the moral example of Jesus to Mohammad. While Mohammad made some moral improvements in his time, like ending the practice of burying unwanted baby girls alive, there can be no doubt that Jesus was a far superior moral example than Mohammad.Jesus preached against materialism and money-grubbing while Mohammad raided other communities to take “booty” and slaves by force. Mohammad also informed his followers that god insisted that he alone was to receive 1/5 of all the booty from those raids and wars and that Mohammad alone was allowed to have as many wives as he wanted while other men could “only” have four.Jesus protected a prostitute from being stoned while Mohammad insisted upon death by stoning of adulterers.As far as anyone knows Jesus never married or kept concubines or female slaves. Mohammad kept many concubines taken by force in raids and he considered the rape and sexual enslavement of female captives to be a routine, accepted practice.Mohammad took the wife of his adopted son simply because Mohammad wanted her and he excused himself by another divine revelation; he said that “Allah” spoke to him saying that it was okay for Mohammad to take his adopted son’s wife.The vast majority of modern people are sickened and repulsed by Mohammad’s marrying a six-year-old even though he “waited” until she was nine years old to consummate the marriage. However, this was common practice in Mohammad’s time as was slavery in Mohammad’s time and in Jesus’.The difference is stark even when comparing the two within their historical and cultural contexts. Both Mohammad and Jesus lived in brutal, primitive times but Jesus rose far above the standards of his time to teach a moral code so revolutionary that most of it is inspiring today. Mohammad invented a cult to serve his own selfish ambitions and sent his followers off to butcher their neighbors for women and “booty”.And yet, Muslims idolize Mohammad, proclaiming him to be the “perfect” man and want to be as much like him as they can. In the modern world, this is incomprehensible. Unfathomable.
